Punarnava, scientifically known as BoerhaviaDiffusa, is used in Ayurveda due to its many health benefits. It is also known as Tarvine, Red Spiderling, Horse Purslane, Red Hogweed, and Spreading Hogweed.
The word punarnava translates into something that revives the body and brings the youth back. For treatment, the leaves, aerial part, and root of the plant are all used.
The leaves of the punarnava plant are also commonly used as vegetables in many parts of India. The tiny purple, white, carnine, or pink flowers of punarnava plant grow all over it. There are two main varieties of this plant, red and white, and both are used for their medicinal benefits.
